MEAT is a locally owned and operated smokehouse in the heart of Old Strathcona. An authentic Texas BBQ experience built on quality meats, savoury sides, homemade sauces, and a casual, welcoming room to indulge. Brisket, beer, and bourbon - keeping it simple, and doing it well.
Our beef comes right from Benchmark Angus, a family-run Alberta ranch that's been raising cattle the honest way for almost 100 years. Free-range, humanely raised, and hormone-free is the Munton family promise, and it's why our brisket tastes so good.
Our Ole Hickory smoker is fired up nearly 24/7, 365 days a year. This trusty pit can pack in up to 700 pounds of meat at once, infusing everything with rich cherry and hickory smoke.
We believe BBQ is meant to be enjoyed family-style. Our menu is simple and a la carte - what you see is what you get. Order meats by the pound, sides by the size, and settle in at our long communal tables, where sharing is encouraged and new friends are likely.

Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?
We have options for everyone! Our menu is very gluten free friendly. And don't let the name scare you, we have a number of vegetarian and some vegan options too! Check out our menu as a starting point, but more items can be modified to suit your requirements.
Are kids allowed at the restaurant?
We are a full family joint all day, everyday. While we don't have a designated kids' menu, we have lots of options they'll love!
